Career Sasikala Teacher

Meet with Jayalalithaa
In the early 1980s, through V. S. Chandralekha, who was then a Collector of the South Arcot District, and a friend of M. Natarajan, Sasikala became acquainted with Jayalalithaa, who was then Secretary of the Anna Dravida Propaganda Munnetra Kazhagam. Because Sasikala helped in covering the video about party meetings and AIADMK policy distribution via CD, Sasikala and Jayalalithaa gradually became very close.

On December 19, 2011, Jayalalithaa drove Sasikala Natarajan and 13 others including Sasikala’s husband M. Natarajan, T. T. V. Dhinakaran, their relatives, and adopted son Jayalalithaa, V. N. Sudhakaran from AIADMK. This Jayalalithaa act was considered as a way to prove that he was not under the influence of Sasikala and his family.
This problem was resolved on March 31, 2012, when Sasikala Natarajan was reappointed as a party member after issuing a written apology. In a meeting held on 29 December 2016 – the first meeting after the death of Jayalalithaa on 5 December 2016 – the general council of AIADMK unanimously appointed Sasikala as the party’s secretary general.

On February 5, 2017, Sasikala was unanimously elected as the leader of the AIADMK Legislative Party through meeting all MLA in the party. Governor of Tamil Nadu Ch. Vidyasagar Rao accepted the resignation of Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on February 6, 2017, and instructed him to continue to function as interim Minister of Chair “until alternative arrangements are made”. The governor postponed announcing VK Sasikala as the new Chief Minister, awaiting the verdict of a fraud case against him. On February 14, 2017, VK Sasikala was convicted and sentenced to 6 years in prison in Bangalore parapana, and gave him 24 hours to surrender. Then the governor rejected his claim to be the chief minister. VK Sasikala then held the party’s MLA council in his capacity as Secretary General. There, Mr. Edpappadi k Palaniasamy was unanimously elected as the new Chief Minister and he was appointed the following day.
